Bere Island Tourism & Environment Group cancelled their AGM last week. It will now be held on tomorrow Wednesday 17th May at 7pm in the community centre. Everyone is welcome.

As part of the Bealtaine Festival the Bere Island Active Retirement Group will go to the Beara Coast Hotel on Tuesday 23rd May. There will be a meal served followed by music and dance. Booking is essential, contact Tim on 75099.

West Cork Islands Community Council will hold their AGM on Friday 5th May at 11am on Long Island. Ferry leaves Colla Pier at 10:30am and everyone is welcome.

The next coffee morning for the Active Retirement Group will take place on Wednesday 12th April at 11am in the Community Centre.

A children’s Easter Egg Hunt will take place on Easter Sunday at 11.30am at the GAA Pitch.

The annual Berehaven Red Cross fundraising walk from Ardgroom to Bere Island will take place on Saturday April 22nd, leaving Ardgroom at 9am.

Thank you to everyone who attended Tom Crean Antarctic Explorer on Bere Island the past two evenings. We hope you enjoyed the show, and thank you to Aidan Dooley for bringing it to Bere Island. Thanks also to Paul Elphick, Patrick Dennehy and Silvana O’Sullivan for helping to set the Lecture Theatre up, Murphy’s Ferry for providing special ferry trips and the Department of Defence for the use of the Lecture Theatre.

A reminder that refuse collection takes place today Tuesday 4th April.

Condolences to the family of Constance Mary Cahill (daughter of Daniel and Helena Cahill) of Lawrence Cove Bere Island who passed away on 28 February after a short illness in London, England. She was 85 years old and is survived by a daughter, two sons and her husband. A service for Connie will take place at St Paul’s Catholic Church, Wood Green London on Monday 13 March followed by a cremation service and reception in Southgate, North London. May she rest in peace.

Spinning classes will start this week subject to having sufficient numbers. Cost is €50 for 6 classes and must be paid today by 12noon at the Projects Group Office.

Zumba class has been cancelled due to lack of numbers.

Applications are open for the Rural Social Scheme. For application form or more information contact the office on 75099.
Bere Island Projects Group Ltd, are in the process of putting together a workplan for 2017. To facilitate this we are holding an open day for groups to come to the community centre to identify their needs and have them included in the plan. This will be held on Friday next 10thFebruary from 10am-12 noon & 2pm – 5pm. So please come along to the community centre between these times so your group can input into our workplan.
