Ardnakinna Lighthouse This beautiful lighthouse was completed and lit in 1965 and its two white and red flashes every 10 seconds stand guard over the Piper Rocks below. The rugged track walk to the lighthouse along the coastline provides stunning views. |
Bere Island Martello Tower
Built by the British to strengthen their defenses against the French and completed by 1805. Today just two of Bere Island's four Martello Towers remain standing. The tower on the summit of Ardagh Hill is the most accessible and is very well preserved. |

The Druid Alter/ Wedge Tomb
This Wedge Tomb dates from the Early Bronze Age (after 2000 BC) and are particularly widespread in Munster. They generally consist of a rectangular burial chamber and roofed with slabs. |
Gallan/ Standing Stone
Bere Island is home to several standing stones. It stands 3m tall and is clearly visible from Berehaven. It also stands on the exact center point of the island. |

Lonehort Battery
A military fortification surrounded by a deep moat built on behalf of the English army by the Royal Engineers. Work began on the Battery in 1899 and hosts two six inch guns, an infantry trench, guard house, parade area, engine house and various underground structures. |
Lonehort Harbour
It is believed locally that Lonehort was once a Viking harbour. An archaeological survey carried out in 1995 confirmed the breakwater as being most likely Norse/Viking. Following this survey a feature thought to be a Scandinavian boathouse was excavated. |

Signal Tower
This is one of several built along the west coast by the British between the years 1804-08 and this was the fourteenth in line from Cork. This two storey tower communicated by signal mast with similar towers on Sheep's Head and Blackball Head. |
Holy Year Cross
This iconic cross was erected in 1950 in commemoration of the Holy Year. It is located on the largest hill on the island, Knockanallig and every year a mass is held at the cross. |
