Ferry Times to and from Bere Island

Bere Island is situated 120km west of Cork City on the Beara Peninsula in West Cork. It is a 2 hour drive (directions below) from Cork City and is only accessible by ferry.

Bere Island is served by two car ferry services,  suitable for travelers on foot, bike or car and both sail year-round from Castletownbere and the Pontoon. A heavy cargo service also operates from Castletownbere.

For ferry timetables please check with each ferry operator: Bere Island Ferries and Murphy’s Ferry  full contact details for each ferry operator are listed below.  Bere Island Ferries also operate the heavy cargo service.

Please note that you cannot book the ferry in advance. Both ferries operate a first come first served policy and you might have to queue at peak times. But don’t worry, you won’t be left behind, if the ferry is full, they will come back for you!

Summer and winter timetables differ, so do check carefully to make sure that you have the right Bere Island ferry times for your visit.
