In the 1960s, Ed White from Lynn,  Massachusetts, USA would visit Bere Island each summer with his island born wife Mary (nee Harrington, Greenane).  Ed always brought his cine camera and spent his visits recording the everyday moments, faces and rhythms of island life.  These cine rolls were left to Ed’s daughter Noreen Dennehy.  Realising

Join a guided kayak tour and explore Bere Island’s hidden coves and rugged shores. Kayaking is available Tuesday, Thursday, Friday Saturday and Sunday from 12 noon. Suitable for ages 8+. Trips require a minimum of 4 people and are weather dependent. For further details see the poster below.

Bere Island Projects Group have been awarded €24,500 from The Heritage Council’s Heritage Organisations Support Fund 2025.  This funding will be used to implement actions on the 2025 workplan for the Bere Island Conservation Plan.   The Conservation Plan was launched in 2003 as the result of a partnership with Bere Island Projects Group and The Heritage
