Lonehort Battery Guided Tour
Tours will take place every Saturday and Sunday throughout September.
Meet outside the main gate at 12.00pm
Lonehort Battery, is the largest of seven gun batteries constructed by the British Admiralty on Bere Island. The batteries were used during World War One, and handed back to the Irish Government during the handover of the Treaty Ports in 1938. Bere Island historians and licensed tour guides Barry Hanley and Teresa Hall are now offering guided tours of Lonehort Battery. Tours are €10 per person, children free. Beara Race Series – Bere Island
Saturday 12th October
Beara Athletic Club will host the 2019 Beara Race series, a 5 mile run taking in the scenic sights of the Beara Peninsula. As well as the run on Bere Island, runs take place in Allihies on 21st September and in Eyeries on 8th November. For further details see www.beara5milseries.com
