Recording Our Bere Island History

With support from the Burren Beo Trust’s Heritage Keepers programme a group of Bere Islanders are working to record an oral history of Bere Island. The group are working with Dr Angela Maye-Banbury who is a leading oral history expert and has previously compiled an oral history of Achill Island – Achill Oral Histories

Dr Maye-Banbury will be visiting Bere Island in late May and will facilitate a public meeting, Recording Our Bere Island History on Saturday 28th May at 7.30pm at The Bere Island Heritage Centre.

By recording an oral history of Bere Island we are aiming to preserve teh stories of the island’s past for the future. This public meeting will outline the Recording Our Bere Island History Project and how we hope to achieve it. All are welcome to attend.
